NEWS: Scalextric Tyrrell French GP 1971

Scalextric Tyrrell French GP 1971
C3482A, Limited Edition of 3000

Ok so you've already heard me refer to 2014 as the year of the classic F1 in our fantastic world of slot cars.  We knew it wouldn't be long till we started to see these stunning pieces of history being released and it looks like Scalextric will be getting the ball rolling with the Tyrrell F1 from 1971.  I'm pretty sure you'll all agree that this slot is going to be a must have which presents a bit of an issue as Scalextric will be limiting this release to just 3000 units.  Needless to say, preorder one if you're after one for your collection.

From Scalextric: 'The 1971 French Grand Prix took place for the first time at the brand new Paul Ricard circuit in the mountains outside Marseille. Jackie Stewart gained pole position from Clay Regazzoni, Jacky Ickx and Graham Hill.

From the start, Stewart streaked ahead, setting fastest lap on lap 2 and pulling out a 10-second lead by lap 7. It was a 1-2 success for the Tyrrells on a tricky circuit, the Ford engine providing extra power down the very long Mistral straight. Cevert, having qualified 7th, fought his way to a 2nd place finish behind team partner Stewart.'

MOVIE: Hennessey Venom GT World Speed Record

Hennessey Venom GT
New World Speed Record
Kennedy Space Center, 3.2-mile Space Shuttle runway

The World Speed record has just been set and no, it wasn't by a Bugatti Veyron Super Sport or a Veyron derivative, it has been set by a Hennessey Venom GT at 270.49mph!  Don't know the manufacture, well you do now and the Venom is about to become household name - the big question is, will a slot manufacture be releasing the Venom as slot car in the future, Scalextric perhaps?

Anyway, enough of the talk, you have to watch the below Youtube video and be sure to turn up the volume for all of the 4:39 glorious minutes!

NEWS: NSR Porsche 917K (1155SW)

NSR Porsche 917K
1155SW, 'Gesipa Racing Team', 1000 Km Monza 1970

NSR have recently released some photos of their next Porsche 917K livery, the 'Gesipa Racing Team' raced at Monza in 1970 setup in side-winder configuration.  The NSR 917K is a great track car, surprisingly you can 'modify' a FlySlot 917K to be competitive but if you're after straight from the box performance then the NSR release is what you're after.

The Gesipa Racing Team light blue and yellow livery is impressive enough and would look great running around the track.  My only hesitation with this car would be that NSR have released over a dozen 917K liveries and this one is not as impressive as most of them.  For example the stunning white Martini Le Mans car, Nurburgring 71, Piper red, Sandeman green or one of the numerous Gulf liveries.

GALLERY: NSR Corvette C6R (1084AW)

NSR Corvette C6R
1084AW, 'Take no prisoners'

Of all the NSR models I own, my favourite to run on the track has to be their Corvette C6R.  Performance is (as you would expect from an NSR release) hands-down excellent as is the attention to detail you find on the model.  The black 'Take no prisoners' livery is particularly impressive and looks menacing running laps on the track, it's no surprise that this is one of my son's absolutely favourite slot cars.

From NSR: 'NSR's objective is to make a GT car using modern technology, so high tech ‘Ready To Race’. It needed to be competitive straight out the box. The Corvette is an innovative model with high tech components, highly performing on track still respecting the scale modellistic aspect. The Corvette comes in anglewinder setup. The motor is King EVO 21 which has 21400 rpm @ 12 Volts 322 gr/cm.

NEWS: Ninco's new adjustable chassis

Ninco's new 1/32 adjustable chassis

It looks like Ninco are getting more into the building and customising part of our hobby with the release of a new range of spare parts and an all new adjustable 1/32 chassis which promises performance and stability.  The chassis will be initially included on the next Seat León to be released, but we should see the new chassis for sale as a separate item in the near future.  No word on track performance or engineering levels as yet but great work Ninco!

NEWS: Ninco Bowler Nemesis (50644)

Ninco Bowler Nemesis
50644 'Team Training' RAID

It's been a while since Ninco released a race liveried RAID car, I was really hopefully Ninco would get back into the Raid scene in 2014 and it looks like my wishes have been answered.  Ninco Raid cars are very popular and models in good or new condition command high dollar values on online auction sites.  The 'Team Training' Bowler livery looks fantastic, the second photo below almost makes you think that you are looking at the real car!

The front grill and lights looks excellent as do the rims and rubber.  As with all Ninco Raid models, the Bowler is a 4WD in-line configuration, I had hoped that we would see Ninco's lighting system incorporated in this model but not so.
