NEWS: Slot.it Porsche 962 KH (CA19c)

Slot.it Porsche 962 KH
CA17c, WSPC Fuji 1000 Km 1988

So another Porsche 956/962 release from Slot.it - how many releases is that now; 20, 30, 40?  Ok, so the 956/962 is an epically popular release, easily Slot.it most successful model to date but do we need another livery release?  Well when it looks a bloody good as the Fuji 1000km livery the answer has to be a resounding "YES!".  The yellow Fuji livery looks fantastic and nothing like any of the previous dozens of releases which is hard to believe.  I particularly like the front yellow wheel covers combined with the black rear mags - very nice!

From Slot.it: 'The Porsche 962 was a sport-prototype racing car, designed to replace the Porsche 956, to race the WSC Group C and Americans IMSA competitions.

The main difference from the 956 model was the chassis, modified according to changed FIA safety rules.

This Group C racer from Porsche was one of the most succesfull racing cars ever, its palmares including: - World Sport-Prototype Championship: 1985, 1986 - Le Mans 24h: 1986, 1987, 1994 - IMSA GTP Championship: 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988 - Daytona 24h: 1985, 1986, 1987, 1989, 1991 - Sebring 12h: 1985, 1986, 1987, 1988 Two were the versions of this car: "962" for IMSA Championships, "962C" for Group C races.

The Fuji 1000-kilometres October race was part of the 1988 World Sports-Prototype Championship as well as the Japanese Championship series.

Thirteen Porsche 962Cs lined up for the race, including the cars engaged in the World Championship and those engaged in the national series. 'From A Racing' car number 27, driven by Hideki Okada and Stanley Dickens, crossed the finish line in 4th position. The overall 1988 title in the 'All Japan Sports-Prototype Championship' racing series eventually went to the 'From A' team, and to driver Hideki Okada.'

NEWS: Scalextric VW Beetle (C3484)

Scalextric Volkswagen Beetle
C3484, RAC British Rally Championship

Soon to be released by Scalextric is the Volkswagen Beetle (
as raced by Bill Bengry) that raced in the RAC British Rally Championships.  I'll be honest, it terms of Motorcars,  I think this car hit every branch of the ugly tree on the way down and then there's the brown/red!  However I know there are slotters out there that love the Beetle so here she is.

GALLERY: NSR Ford GT40s

NSR Ford GT40s
1055 - 24hr Le Mans 1966
SET04 - 24hr Le Mans 1966 (Winner)

When NSR (and Slot.it) announced they would be adding the GT40 to their line-up, I had my reservations, Scalextric had been successfully releasing GT40 liveries for many years and I had many Scalextric GT40 in my collection.  Of course NSR's focus was on creating a highly engineered and performing slot car and as such, I don't really compare the NSR and Scalextric GT40 with numerous liveries of each in my collection.

NSR's GT40 is an absolutely beautiful slot car to drive on the track, particularly in non-magnetic trim.  if you don't have one in your collection, NSR's GT40 is a worthwhile addition for sure.

From NSR: 'The Ford GT40 is an innovative model with high tech components, highly performing on track still respecting the scale modellistic aspect.

Ford GT40 comes in sidewinder setup. The motor is Shark 20k which has 20000 rpm @ 12 Volts 164 gr/cm.

NSR's objective is to make a Classic car using modern technology, so high tech ‘Ready To Race’. It needed to be competitive straight out the box.

The Ford GT40 was created in the streamline of the Mosler GT project which has dominated in the GT top class either in National and International competitions since it was born in 2006.

In according with our NSR philosophy, we have worked to obtain the best performances without any compromise. The NSR “Classic” model cars are without doubts the fastest in the world.'
