For those of you that didn't watch Le Mans this year, Flying Lizard Motorsport released new race liveries for their Porsches and I'm sure you'll agree with me that they're bloody stunning!  If the liveries seem familiar to you then you'd be correct, Flying Lizard Motorsport have based the new liveries around Porsche's famous Le Mans winning Porsche 917K Gulf cars of the 1970s.

So what odds do you think we have of seeing FlySlot release these liveries within 12 months?  Personally I can't wait...

This from Car and Driver: 'The blue-and-orange livery offers a subtle nod to the 1970 J.W. Automotive Gulf 917 Kurzhecks made famous by Steve McQueen’s Le Mans, while the scheme incorporates the names and national flags of all the drivers who have secured overall victories at Le Mans behind the wheel of a Porsche.'

Audi wins its 12th Le Mans title!
Tom Kristensen wins his 9th Le Mans title!

245,000 (5.5 million online fans) fans attended Le Mans this year to watch history as Audi claimed its 12th title and winner of the historic 90th running of the most prestigious and gruelling endurance motor race on the planet.  Impressively Toyota came a close second announcing a clear message that they are serious about winning at Le Mans, this won't be another failed F1 exercise.

This from Tom Kristensen (Lemans.org); "For me, Le Mans was filled with very personal emotions this time. I’m proud to drive for the world’s best team. This applies to all team-mates, all employees in Ingolstadt and Neckarsulm and for Audi Sport Team Joest. They make it possible for us to realize a dream. Now this dream has come true again – winning the fastest and toughest race under the direction of Dr. Wolfgang Ullrich. Unfortunately, we lost someone yesterday (with Allan Simonsen) who had the same dream. He was a very modest and nice person. That’s why I’m experiencing highs and lows this time. With respect to my ninth victory: I’m driving with determination and the ambition my father inspired in me. He died in March. Before his death, he told me that I’d win Le Mans this year with my team-mates. I’m hoping that one day I’ll be able to celebrate another victory with Loïc and Allan that I can dedicate to my father. Because this Le Mans success I’m dedicating to Allan Simonsen."

NEWS: Le Mans Qualifying 2013

Final qualifying session

Audi Motorsport and Tom Kristensen have dominated qualifying for the 90th running of Le Mans, well done Nissan in LM P2.   Audi set the top 3 times and Aston Martin has dominated both LM GTE classes.

Just for a little bit of fun below is a compilation of the action that occurred in qualifying this year, just imagine what the 24 hours could bring and boy does that Gulf Aston Martin Vantage look amazing!!

EVENT: Le Mans 2013

Le Mans 2013, 22-23 June
1 week till the greatest motor show on Earth!

The ACO has granted 56 entries to the 24 Hours of Le Mans which have been divided into the following categories; LMP1 (Le Mans Prototype 1), LMP2 (Le Mans Prototype 2), LMGTE Pro (Le Mans GT Endurance—Professional) and LMGTE Am (Le Mans GT Endurance—Amateur).

In total the ACO received 71 applications for the 2013 running of LeMans.  The Audi factory team have entered 3 R18s in this years race against Toyota's 2 TS030 Hybrid and Rebellion Racing's 2 Toyota powered Lola B12/60s.  The million dollar question is can Toyota take the fight to Audi this year, I for one miss having Peugeot racing at LeMans so I'm hoping Toyota can fill the gap till Porsche arrives next year. :)

I'm not normally a betting man but I'm pretty sure we'll see Toyota's TS030 as a slot car by at least one of our favourite slot manufactures before too long.


This years LMGTE class will be hotly contested with some amazing manufactures going toe-to-toe.  Ferrari's 458 Italia, SRT Viper GTS, Chevrolet's ever powerful Corvette C6R, Porsche's 911 RSR and 997 GT3 and lets not forget Aston Martin's Vantage GTE - what a field!

From Audi; 'The Audi R18 e-tron quattro only starts its second race season in 2013 - but it is already a legend: exactly like the Audi R10 TDI, the first hybrid race car to win the 24 Hours of Le Mans was voted by an Automobile Club de l'Ouest (ACO) jury to be one of the most important Le Mans race cars of all time.'

Audi has just released a new TV commercial in preparation for the big race.  As I always say, crank up the bass and enjoy.
