Strengths:

• The Sauber C9 represents strong collectibility
• Excellent engineering: Powerful motor/quality gearing
• Rear alloy wheels
• Adjustable pivoting motor pod
• Quality paint and finish levels
• Strong 'from the box' performance
• Fantastic level of detail
• Strong non-magnetic performer

Weaknesses:

• Weak rear tail

Verdict:

The Slot.it Suzuka C9 is a very popular slot car and sold out very quickly when released. As a result this slot car represents a high level of collectability. Although the ST livery could be described as simple this slot car looks very impressive on the track.

The Saubers on track performance is strong but isn't as strong as other Slot.its such as the R390, McLaren F1, Chaparral 2E or Alfa 33/3. Regardless of this the Sauber is a very impressive looking slot car with strong on track performance. Mercedes captured the attention of most the motoring world with the release of the Sauber C9 and this is a stunning slot car in any slot car line up.

Strengths:

• The Sauber C9 has always been very popular with slotters. This should convert to a collectible slot however the AEG doesn't seem to have sold that well. Some 2 years after its release, you can still purchase AEG C9s in slot shops, something that is quite unusual for Slot.it releases.
• Excellent engineering: Powerful motor/quality gearing
• Rear alloy wheels
• Rubber aerials
• Adjustable pivoting motor pod
• Very detailed and impressive paint and decal levels
• Excellent 'from the box' performance (once glide is adjusted)
• Very high level of detail,
• Good non-magnetic performer

Weaknesses:

• Some AEG Sauber C9s come with warped chassis, (fortunately Slot.it provide a spare chassis with this particular livery)
• The glide is way too tight, you will need to drill out the glide post a small amount to allow free glide movement

Verdict:

The AEG Sauber C9 is an impressive look slot car, to my eye at least. Decal, detail levels and engineering are all excellent (as you would expect from Slot.it) but the livery doesn't have the same mass appeal for some reason - perhaps it's just too busy?

However I find this a very attractive model and great for racing against others in the Slot.it line-up. Once this model becomes unavailable in slot stores, I expect its popularity to increase greatly.
