The ManicSlot Mini Review

Strengths:

• Impressive 'from the box' performance, (little rear tire trueing required)
• Solid level of detail, (internal, wheel/tire detail look excellent)
• High level paint finish and decal detail
• Digital 'ready' chassis
• Forced centring, quick change glide

Weaknesses:

• Despite having improved detail over previous Scalextric Nascar releases, this releases detail isn't as high as a typical Scalextric detail level
• 2-3mm sideways 'play' in rear axle which required 2 shims to correct on my model, (see above photo for brass shim locations)

Verdict:

The Chevrolet Impala SS Nascar is a 'fun' and extremely enjoyable slot to run and race on the track. Track performance is very impressive given the size and length of the chassis/body. Get a pair of these and you're guaranteed to have a blast racing them on your track!

Strengths:

• Excellent engineering: Powerful motor/quality gearing
• Rear alloy wheels
• Rubber aerial
• Adjustable pivoting motor pod
• Impressive paint and decal levels
• Solid 'from the box' performance
• Very high level of detail,
• Solid non-magnetic performer

Weaknesses:

• Rear wing and rear vision mirrors are prone to damage

Verdict:

The Lancia LC2 has never been as popular as other Slot.it releases for some reason. Detail levels and engineering are excellent (as you would expect from Slot.it) but the model doesn't have the same mass appeal. Still this is a very attractive model and great for racing against others in the Slot.it line-up, just don't expect it to keep up with a McLaren or Porsche 956/962.

Strengths:

• The 911 GT1 is a popular slot that has a limited collectibe status
• Solid 'from the box' performance
• High level of detail
• Excellent paint and decal job
• Solid non-magnetic performer with a little weight

Weaknesses:

• Fly rear rubber compound is hard to 'true' well
• FTB performance could be better, can be improved with after-market parts especially rear rubber and an improved guide

Verdict:

A very impressive slot to the eye and if setup correctly, can also be impressive on the track. If you're a modern LMP fan, you'll have to have at least one in your collection.
