NEWS: NSR Audi R8 LMS (1145AW)

NSR Audi R8 GT3 LMS
1145AW - Nurburgring 2012

NSR have just sent in some photos of their just released Nurburgring 2012 Audi R8 LMS.  I have a NSR R8 and its a great slot car on the track, highly enjoyable and responsive to drive.  The Playstation Vita blue livery looks smart enough that's for sure.

From NSR: 'The Audi R8 GT3 is an innovative model with high tech components, highly performing on track still respecting the scale modellistic aspect.

The Audii R8 GT3 comes in anglewinder setup. The motor is King EVO 21 which has 21400 rpm @ 12 Volts 322 gr/cm.'

NEWS: MSC De Tomaso Pantera Gr.3 (MSC-6029)

MSC Competition De Tomaso Pantera Gr.3
MSC-6029, Tour Auto 1973

We have been lucky enough to get some exclusive photos of MSC's new Pantera livery release.  I was very pleased when Scaleauto decided to release the De Tomaso Pantera last year, the Pantera has always been one of my all time favourite motorcars.

MSC Competition is part if the IBB Auto Racing Group which has a rally/Raid focus.  Earlier in the year I did a review on the Scaleauto Pantera (which you can read below) and the model is an impressive slot on the track.  The Tour Auto red, black and white Pantera is an impressive livery that's for sure.

You can read ManicSlots' review of the Pantera by following the below link.

NEWS: NSR Ford GT40 Mk II (1177SW)

NSR Ford GT40 Mk II
1177SW - 12hr Sebring 1970

NSR have just sent in some great photos of their soon to be released Sebring 12hr 1970 GT40.  I have several of NSR's GT40 and I love them, they are a fabulous slot car to drive on the track, even by NSR standards.  With close to a dozen livery variation of the GT40 already released by NSR, it takes a special livery to stand out and in my opinion, the Sebring yellow and black livery is just that.  I think this car would look awesome running around my track layout and although not in the budget, I may have to 'find' the funds for this one. :)

From NSR: 'The Ford GT40 is an innovative model with high tech components, highly performing on track still respecting the scale modellistic aspect.

Ford GT40 comes in sidewinder setup. The motor is Shark 20k which has 20000 rpm @ 12 Volts 164 gr/cm.'

NEWS: Policar Ferrai 312 PB

Policar Ferrai 312PB
CAR01a / CAR01b - 1000km Monza 1972

New kid on the block, Policar have released the long awaited Ferrari 312 PB, their first model as they re enter the slot car market.  As you can see from the photos, the 312PB looks a lot like the 312PB Sloter and Slot.it release several years back prior to Carrera securing an exclusive with the Ferrari branding.  As a result these fine looking slot cars will not have any Ferrari branding or logos on them, something that is easily added if you wish.

As you will have heard by now, chassis and engineering all comes from Slot.it so we can expect these to be awesome on the track.  Detail levels look very high which I'm happy to say is almost mandatory in the modern era of slot car racing.  Packaging looks a little basic (cardboard) and from what I've read, is strongly based of Policar's original packaging style.

It's also nice to see Policar releasing some slot car models (next is the Ferrari F40) that are no longer produced by other manufactures these days.  Based on the standard of this first release, I think we can all be excited to have Policar back in our industry.

NEWS: REAL FX RACING

REAL FX RACING
Race Cars with Artificial Intelligence

Slot car racing without the slots?  Well I'm not totally convinced but this technology is worth a look.  We are starting to see a lot more scaled car racing type products being released clearly aimed at a hybrid slot car/computer/RC market.

From Real FX: 'Slot Racing arrived and we got excited, but it took ages to set up (and put away), and every time a car flew off the track, you had to stop the race to pick it up & put it back on. We bought radio control cars. Took them out of the box, drove them around for a while.

They were just too hard to control, and impossible to race. After a few crashes they ended up in the back of the cupboard. Along came video games. They gave us the action we wanted, but only in a 'virtual' world (and Dad struggled to play along).

We wondered why we couldn’t do the one thing everyone actually wants to do with a car. Race!  So, over 6 years ago we set out to try and achieve it. We have ended up with a system that draws inspiration from all that has gone before, but elevates it to a whole new level.

Introducing RealFX Racing: The car racing system we wished for when we were kids!'

The below video is pretty cool, my only comment would be how slow the cars seem to be running.

From Real FX: 'And just like in video gaming, with RealFX you don't need another physical player in the room to still compete in a race. You simply add the second car, switch its handset to ‘Pace Car’ mode and race against it!

It's Artificial Intelligence means it will drive around the track and compete against you! Lightweight, affordable and patented '1-Sec-Connect' track segments click into place in less than1 second, allowing you to make a full size track layout in less than a minute - and take it down in the same time (well, usually even quicker). Go round chairs, under tables, or even from room to room.'
