NEWS: Carrera Audi R8 LMS / AM Vantage GT3

Carrera's May DTMs
23793 - Audi R8 LMS 'Team Phoenix' Bathurst
30676 - Aston Martin Vantage GT3 'Bilstein Team'

I've said it before and I'll say it again, Carrera has taken a strangle hold on the DTM and GT slot car market!  Carrera's latest additions to their already extensive GT line-up is the Team Phoenix Red Back Spider livery from Bathurst 2012 and the Aston Martin Vantage GT3 'Bilstein Team' which raced at Silverstone in 2013.

Both of these releases look impressive but for my money, it has to the the Audi R8 that ran at Bathurst.  For some reason Scalextric did not release this livery as a high-detail slot so I'm super glad Carrera has.  What's even more impressive than the high detail levels on these cars is the great 'out of box' performance and the inclusion of lights making them incredibly cost effective additions to your collection!

NEWS: Silver Line Drogo 250GT Breadvan

Silver Line Drogo 250GT Breadvan
SL22 - Scuderia Serenissima Test car, 1962
SL23 - Coppa Gallenga, 1965

Silver Line by Racer have just sent through some jaw dropping photos of their soon (second half of June) to be released Drogo 250GT Breadvan.  The 'Breadvan' is a very unusual and stunning looking motor vehicle that I had never seen before.  It prompted me to do a little research and I found the below video clip on YouTube.

As you would expect from a Racer and Silver Line release, detail levels on these slots are of the highest level.  Its great to see Silver Line releasing models like this that aren't so mainstream and are a little adventurous!  ManicSlots will be adding one to the collection for sure, now the only problem is to decide which one? :)

NEWS: Scaleauto 'Home Series' Porsche 935

Scaleauto 'Home Series' announced
SC-9101, SC-9102 Porsche 935

So we've been sent some great photos of the just released Scaleauto 'Home Series' of slot cars.  Detail is still a little thin but what is clear is that this new range of Scaleauto slot cars is aimed squarely at the home racer.  What's exciting about that is that you don't have to be a pro to get the most out of these slots, I'd also wager that they would be a great choice to get the kids into this great hobby.

Detail levels look very high which is something I really wasn't expecting when I first found out about this new series for home racing.  Motors come standard in side-winder configuration, a old favourite of mine.  No news on gear ratios but pennies to pounds it will be 9 pinion with a 27 crown.  I'm really looking forward to testing a few of these puppies on the home track! :)

This information on the new series from Scaleauto: 'The new Scaleauto Home Series fulfills the needs for the beginner level and easy-gaming slot car enthusiasts.

Detailed 'Ready-To-Run' slot racing cars with sidewinder position motor and magnet.

Compatible with all types of analog slot tracks. Upgradeable with performance spare parts in axles, AL-hubs, tyres, guides and braids.

Chassis motor mount is not interchangeable. There is no 'digital direct' conversion kit available.'

NEWS: Scaleauto 'Home Series' announced

Scaleauto 'Home Series' announced

Ok I don't usually like to do the whole 'coming soon to a slot shop near you' news release but this news is pretty interesting.  We've been given exclusive access to some very interesting information from a slotter in Barcelona, that Scaleauto is preparing a special announcement very soon (we are told in the next 24hrs) regarding an entirely new series of slot cars built specifically for home racing.

I haven't been able to find out anymore at this stage but did manage to get my hands on the new logo for the series.  I can only speculate that this new series will include cars with a simpler chassis design, (perhaps no floating motor pod and less adjustments), may include more affordable parts such as non-alloy wheels, gears etc. and perhaps the introduction of less powerful motors, making the range more affordable and better suited to smaller home racing layouts.

As soon as I find out more (and have some photos), I'll be sure to publish here.  In the meantime, if you want to find out more about Scaleauto slot cars here on ManicSlots, be our guest and CLICK HERE

NEWS: NSR Ford P68 “Rear wing”

NSR Ford P68 “Rear wing”
1146SW - BOAC 500 1969

NSR are about to release a interesting variation of their popular Ford P68 with a rear high-wing.  I've always been a huge fan of the P68 since owning one as a Matchbox car as a kid, the lines of the P68 are just amazing.  The rear wing looks pretty cool but also looks incredibly fragile, I will reserve my judgement of course till I see one in the flesh.  A welcome addition to the NSR line-up.

From NSR: 'The P68 Alan Mann is an innovative model with high tech components, highly performing on track still respecting the scale modellistic aspect.

P68 Alan Mann comes in sidewinder setup. The motor is Shark 20k which has 20000 rpm @ 12 Volts 164 gr/cm.'

NEWS: Scaleauto Spyker GT2R (SC-6026)

Scaleauto Spyker GT2R
SC-6026 - 'Spyker Squadron', Le Mans 24hr 2007

Ok I have something special to share with you today, we've managed to get our hands on some exclusive upcoming Scaleauto Spyker photos and they are the bomb!  As you all know, Scaleauto have been working on the Spyker for some time now and this release has been one I've had my eye on.  Well judging from the below photos, the wait has been well worth it, the #85 and #86 cars look amazing in their orange and silver Le Mans liveries.

The first release we will see of Scaleauto's exciting new Spyker will be the team 'Spyker Squadron' (SC-6026) box set as featured below.  Important to note that the below box design and art is a prototype only and not the final design - personally I'd be damn happy if it looked exactly like the photo.  I can't wait to put these Spykers through some test laps, there's nothing like the release of a completely new slot car.
