NEWS: SRC Matra 670

Slot Racing Company Matra 670

Slot Racing Company have been promising for some time now to deliver a slot car that just about every slotter has wanted in their collection for ever, the Matra 670!  One of the most amazing motorcars to race at Le Mans, the 670 dominated the event for 3 consecutive years 72 to 74.  As you would expect from SRC and their historic connection with Fly, initial photos of the SRC 670 look very impressive, gearbox and cockpit detail look fantastic.  I don't have a SRC in my line-up to date but the 670 will change that for sure.

This from Wikipedia: 'Mécanique Aviation Traction or Matra (Mécanique Aviation TRAction) was a French company covering a wide range of activities mainly related to automobile, bicycles, aeronautics and weaponry.

In 1994, it became a subsidiary of the Lagardère Group and now operates under that name. Matra was owned by the Floirat family.  The name Matra became famous in the 1960s when it went into car production by buying Automobiles René Bonnet.  Matra Automobiles produced racing cars and sports cars, and was successful in racing.'

The Matra MS670 won the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 1972, 1973, and 1974. It also delivered the World Championship for Makes to Matra in both 1973 and 1974.

The below video from Youtube is on board a Matra 670 at Le Mans in 2012, the V12 sound is amazing!
